I'M BACK!!! With Angels...

Hi all you beautiful people who happen upon the blog. I'm back!! I got married :) and didn't die, though we were both sick for weeks. I've just been ridiculously busy. But, since my husband isn't home to study yet, I thought I'd drop a little note...something that will perhaps bring a smile to your face, in spite of the finals' dundrums. For a long time I've been wanting to write a book or something entitled "My Angels." No, it is not a sappy love-story thing, though it may sound that way. The idea came to me during a women's conference when Uchdorf was speaking. If I can find the quote I'll add it at the end...but he talked about creating. It was inspiring! So, here and there I notice little everyday things that people do or say that uplift and testify to me. They become my angels, helping me get through.

Angel #1- The Little Girl Who Came into the Dentist
This is a great one to start with because it's a CHRISTMAS story! I love Christmas!!! So, when all the little chillin's come into the dentist I ask them what they want Santa to bring them. Last year, the general concensus was a game boy, and a variety of other random toys and games. But one little girl said the most interesting thing. When I asked her what she wanted for Christmas she said "whatever I get." Really? It was so refreshing! After weeks of hearing children talk about the hundreds of toys they wanted and didn't need, this nine year old professed that she didn't care what she got, she would be happy with whatever. I was so surprised by her remark, it made me think (I love when that happens!) It made me appreciate all the things I have and all the fantastic things I've been given...most importantly the gifts we receive from the Savior. Isn't that what Christmas is really about anyway? Thank you little niner. By being selfless, you taught me what Christmas is all about.
Thanks to my extraordinary family and all your love and support!! And, thanks to my great friends who stick by me even though we haven't seen much of anyone lately. Love you all!

The Story You're All Dying to Hear

Preface
Wes arrived home from Brazil on July 23rd. That night we went to a movie and he stole the ring I was wearing. The pattern didn't change. Every time I wore a ring he stole it. Once I asked if I could have them back. He told me I'd have to find the stash. Oh, and Wes gave me a hammock he brought back from Brazil. It hangs between the apricot and plum trees in my backyard. It's beautiful and we love it! ok...
Story Time :)
We went out to the hammock to get the books we had been reading earlier. Wes lovingly pulled me in. I lied. Wes tackled me into the hammock. Then the confusing and dreaded words escaped his lips, "This might be the last time we cuddle." What in the world is that supposed to mean?! Is he breaking up with me? "Eh?" I wondered aloud. He told me about how he was thinking about going into the army. Oh course that wasn't true. But he said "I guess I better give these back." He handed me all of the rings he had stolen except one. It was a coconut ring he sent me while he was on his mission. "Do you want this back?" Sure do! He enclosed the ring in his hand and told me to squeeze it. Okay... squeeeeeeeze squeeze squeze open. No ring. It disappeared. Or, as Wes said, it was absorbed into his bloodstream. He slid out of the hammock into kneeling position. Wow, wow, wow! Wait a minute, is he proposing! No, he's just fooling around. Just a second ago he was breaking up with me. No, I think he's proposing!! While my mind raced through a million questions I was sqeezing his hand again. As I opened it I caught a glimps of something shimmering in the moonlight. Could it be? Wes started to speak. "I love you. I want to spend forever with you. You know, the usual mormon speil....I'm so nervous!!!" Yes....?! "Will you marry me?" he finally choked out. "OF COURSE!" was my reply. I squeezed his hand one more time to make the coconut ring reappear. Wearing all 50 rings (Okay, maybe it was more like six) we shared one of those ultra special I-just-got-engaged hugs and maybe just a little kiss. Yay!!

FAQs
Were you surprised? Utterly!! We had talked about getting married before. But Wes kept hinting toward next July. I didn't want to wait that long, but was willing to wait it out until he was ready. I thought maybe he was still getting over the mission jitters. He told me there were some things he needed to work out before he would propose. Turns out he just wanted his big I-just-got-home family get together to be done first. I didn't expect it for at least a couple months. I was completely surprised!
Have you set a date yet? You know it! We are getting married on Saturday October 24th in the Rexburg temple at 10:00am :)
Have you gotten a ring yet? I forgot to specify in the story. Wes bought me a fantastic ring that was a Walmart special. He spent $8.88 and I love it. But we got a gorgeous for reals ring at Samuels (we love those guys. They're fun) and we are just waiting for it to be sized...I'll have it soon!
Are you going to keep the Walmart ring? Yesterday I would have told you yes...forever! But something bad happened. The ring was starting to turn my finger green. So instead of washing it raw at work I decided to put it in my purse. When I got home and attempted to put it back on, lo and behold it was gone. I'm still mad...
Do ya love me? Do ya love me? Are you playin your love games...with me? That was a little something for Phil and Tod and Tyson and any other lovers of the mighty boosh who may read this.
Did he ask your dad before he proposed? He did. Isn't he such a gentleman! He took my dad to lunch the friday before he proposed. My whole family knew it was coming and I was off on a cloud
How long after he got home did he ask you? 2 and a half weeks. He asked me Monday August 10th at approximately 11:30 pm
Did everything go as he had planned? Does it ever? When Anthony proposed he dripped gas a block and barely had enough to get his car running. Nope Wes was going to ask me early in the evening. There were a load of precious neices and nephews here, however, who just love to be around Wes and wouldn't leave us alone. Therefore, he proposed like 3 hours after planned. We're just lucky Roberta didn't call him to come home. She almost did. Wes said he would have given up and done it a different day.
Are you so excited? YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
